Define the purpose first

A loose gift box, a close-fitting insert and a shipping package require different measurements. Write down whether your dimensions describe usable inside space or the finished outside size. This single decision prevents most mistakes.

Work with the actual material

Paper, folding carton, corrugated board, plywood and acrylic behave differently. Material has thickness, grain direction, spring and tolerance. A generator value is a starting point, not a substitute for a test.

Control scale and units

PudełkoTo files use millimetres and a 1:1 scale. Disable fit-to-page and shrink options when printing. Measure a control bar or a known edge before cutting the entire sheet.

Build a prototype

Make the first sample from an inexpensive material with similar thickness. Mark areas that are tight, loose or awkward to fold. Change one parameter at a time and test again.

Keep the source file

PDF is convenient for printing, but SVG and the project file are easier to revise. Record dimensions, material and test date so future adjustments do not start from zero.
